What is a craft beer?
There are as many definitions as there are beer lovers! Essentially a craft beer is one that has been made with individual care and attention and focuses on flavour above all else.
Currently we offer:
Belhaven Scottish Stout
A rich and welcoming stout, 4.2% abv, brewed from 100% Scottish grown barley, fresh local water and a unique Belhaven yeast with a blend of roast barley, roasted black malt and a light roasted chocolate malt. This creates a deliciously deep, smooth, full-bodied stout with a hint of sweet chocolate and a rich dark finish – without the bitterness of other stouts. The ideal pint for those seeking a full flavoured, rewarding beer with a rich history. A TRUE SCOT!
Ice Breaker
Ice Breaker, a deliciously refreshing, easy drinking, unfiltered pale ale is the first beer crafted by the brewing apprentices, to graduate into the core Greene King beers portfolio. A 4.5% unfiltered pale ale which is bursting with fruity hop flavour. Brewed with Citra and Simcoe hops, it emanates waves of guava and passion fruit which crash with big citrus flavours for this bold pale ale.

Eight real ale beer engines!
We have great pleasure in offering real ales from small and large breweries from Devon and beyond, but the emphasis, as with our food, in in searching out flavoursome local products. We offer beers from Teignworthy, Otter, Hanlons, Nuttycombe, Salcombe, Exeter, Powderkeg, Dartmoor, and Topsham Breweries, to name but a few, together with more mainstream ales from Greene King, Belhaven and Morland amongst others. While we could have as many as eight ales on hand pulls, rest assured, we will always have a locally brewed ale available
And it’s not just real ales – we have real local ciders including bramble, cloudy, vintage, strawberry and pear from local suppliers such as Sandford Orchard.
The Thatched House is really proud of the awards and accolades recieved for our real ales, festivals and events. We have been in the “GOOD BEER GUIDE” since 2018 and hold many awards from our local CAMRA branch including “Pub of the year”.
